Laura Strong, PhD

Laura is an artist, writer, and communication design expert whose work weaves together an in-depth knowledge of archetypal and mythological material with over 24 years of professional design experience to produce a wide range of creative media.

A graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, Laura has worked as an art/creative director, graphic designer, website designer, content developer, information architect, and interactive product developer in New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Seattle regions. She received additional training from the San Francisco Art Institute and San Francisco State University's Multimedia Studies Program, and for the past 13 years she has owned and operated Studio Strong - Communication & Design Studio, which produces "design with spirit in mind" for clients across the United States and abroad.

Laura also holds an MA & PhD in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, CA, and her personal interests have led her to study with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and to take a variety of workshops related to death, dying and rites of passage. These interests are also reflected in her PhD Dissertation, which examines the role of the psychopomp as a guide to the afterlife, and how these mythical beings are returning to Western consciousness at this time to lead us towards a better relationship with death and the transition to the afterlife.

Laura currently resides in Langley on south Whidbey Island in Washington state. She can be contacted via email or phone at 360-321-4624.
