Laura Strong, PhD

Laura StrongAs a creative visionary, Laura explores the liminal boundaries between the known and the unknown, the visible and the invisible, the past and the collective future—searching for cracks in the facade where imagination, beauty, and magic are still alive in our world.

Laura is an artist, writer, and designer whose work weaves together an in-depth knowledge of archetypal and mythological material with over 2 decades professional design experience to produce a wide range of creative media.

When Laura is not working as an interface, website and communication designer, or researching and writing about various mythological and archetypal subjects, she can be found in her studio pursuing her love of creativity and painting.

Laura is the owner of Studio Strong, a communicaion and design studio, which produces "design with spirit in mind" for visionary clients across the United States and abroad.

A graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, she has received training from the San Francisco Art Institute, and San Francisco State University's Multimedia Studies Program.

Laura also holds an MA & PhD in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, CA. And her personal interests have led her to study with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and to take a variety of workshops in the areas of ritual, ceremony, and rites of passage. These interests are also reflected in her PhD dissertation, which examines the role of the psychopomp as a guide to the afterlife, and how these mythical beings are returning to Western consciousness at this time to lead us towards a better relationship with death and to guide us through such important rites of passage as the transition to the afterlife.

Laura currently resides near Langley on south Whidbey Island in Washington state. She can be contacted via email or phone at 360-321-4624.
